HELLO FROM YOUR TOP COACH - CURLY MARTIN
Hello again,
Like most females I am great at multi-tasking and that is probably because I enjoy
it, although it doesn't really answer those who ask how I manage to get so much
done.
The real answer is just as simple. I focus on the most important task of each day
and break it down into smaller elements which I then resolve to the best of my ability.
When enough of these well done tasks join together I've achieved a day, week, month
or year of success.
The worst enemy of this approach is impatience and never allowing enough time for
completion before giving in to the next distraction that happens along. Such distractions
may deliver a short term gain only they impact on the long term aim.
The other vital ingredient of course, is to know when to switch off, so that emotional
and physical energies can be recharged. That's what evenings and holidays were invented
for.
There are a lot of helpful techniques on life management in our courses, and chapter
3 'Time is Money' in The Business Coaching Handbook has great ideas for you and
your clients. I have made this chapter available to you free of charge as a download
on our website because I believe everyone should have access to this information.
Go ahead and enjoy this chapter and I know you will want to buy the book, especially
if you are coaching business personnel, for all the techniques and models you can
use http://www.achievementspecialists.co.uk/freebie/free_chapters
Love and life,
Curly
PONDER ON THIS FOR A MOMENT
"Often while travelling with a camera, we arrive just as the sun slips over the horizon
of a moment – too late to expose a picture, only time to expose our hearts."

Hi Curly,
A testimonial for you. It's just under 18 months now since I had
the great pleasure of attending Curly's Coaching course……and thank heavens I did!
Do not be in any doubt – this is not just a course and a qualification – it really
is an opportunity to change your life (and other people's!) and achieve the new
objectives that you set for yourself!
Curly's course is a gateway to new understanding, new ways of thinking, behaving,
doing and achieving and I recommend her without reservation.

Good morning Curly,
LCH Diploma
I did much research before I went to Achievement Specialist
to undertake a Life Coaching Course, I wanted a credible accreditation and this
one stood above all the rest. So I made contact, a lovely lady called Margaret supported
me through the initial stages of getting it all set up even though I was living
overseas, so logistically somewhat more difficult. However, it was made easy for
me to just get on with the programme, emails, Skype and I was up and running. The
course in London was challenging in a positive way, full and busy,
Curly's knowledge and experience enabled a focus of specific skills and techniques.
I took the gold option which was a great decision, the support from my life coach
mentor has been fantastic. I believe Jackie was hand selected just for me by Curly
because we had very similar thoughts around life coaching and both interested in
the Law of Attraction, a perfect match. I have enjoyed completing the work involved
with gaining the accreditation, but to do it properly, it has taken a time to complete.
The conversations over this period of time with Jackie have enabled me through her
questioning me, to focus my thoughts and take next steps. The books she recommended
have broadened me as a person and hence as a coach. Overall a great experience,
a journey full of support by everyone involved what a great advert for effective
life coaching!
Thank you,
Sue Shorthouse
MARKETING MOMENTS
Ralph Waldo Emerson said many quotable things. Like, 'What you do speaks so loud
that I cannot hear what you say'. Another take on a similar theme is that actions
speak louder than words.
You would not take anti smoking advice from someone that you knew had a 40-a-day
habit. You wouldn't value a slimming consultation from a clinically obese therapist.
By all means rehearse your verbal marketing pitch. Just remember that around 90
percent of communication is based on what people see and sense rather than the spoken
word. Unless you are sincere, authentic and walk your talk, then you might as well
stay at home and watch the grass grow under your feet.
FUN WORK
When you go on holiday you tend to really notice the things that you see for the
first time. You may marvel at the colour of the stone used for buildings, the dexterity
of fishermen sorting their nets on the beach, the aroma of cooking that is so different
from home.
You don't just take a picture, you 'get' the picture because you are part of the
picture. So, just for fun, become a home town tourist. Visit the attractions and
locations that a stranger might visit, notice the way the pavements are swept (or
not) and the livery of your local buses and trains. Write a postcard or three in
your mind because describing things makes you more observant.
It is too easy to take your locality for granted and miss all that makes it special.
Then, do the same process on your life and lifestyle, for you too are special.
ABSOLUTE BEGINNERS
Every moment is fresh. Every minute is new and ready to contain infinite possibilities.
String enough moments or minutes together and you have hours, days and weeks. That
should be exciting enough to get anyone looking forward to the future with eager
anticipation.
If you are feeling shop-soiled and having a bad hair day, allow yourself to wallow
in that mire for no more than a minute, and then get over it. You cannot rest on
past success for you can do better. You cannot rest on past failure as it is now
history.
Take a look at the heading of this item. Make every new minute an absolute beginning.
You can you know. You know you can.

COLIN'S COFFEE BREAK
For this outing, our columnist at large gets involved with heavy metal, chrome, cellulite
and photography. You couldn't make it up … and he didn't … except for the last bit.
This column is incredibly fortunate to have its home in a seaside resort. This means
that there is usually something going on all through summer to keep the columnist
distracted and amused.
Take the weekend for example: I wander around the cliff-top farmers' market, listen
to the rock 'n' roll band playing in the bandstand [If only they had been as good
as they clearly thought they were!] and then loiter around the classic car show
in the next field.
Scene One: My eye and camera are drawn towards an immaculate, scarlet, Cadillac
convertible from the mid 1950's. The heavy chrome fenders and dazzling paint job
gleam in the summer sunshine. I am tempted to take a few pictures. Alas, like many
of the other cars on show, the owners relax in folding chairs at the stern of their
cars.
Scene Two: I stash my camera away with regret as several couples take turns to photograph
their significant other posing by the car. Maybe they are clever with Photoshop
and can later eliminate cellulite, gussets and bellies?
Scene Three: Several enthusiastic and persistent souls in yellow tee shirts work
the crowds and rattle collection boxes seeking support for the local good cause.
It appears to be for confused dogs, cats, horses, the elderly, or maybe all of them.
Scene Four: I meander down to the sands and spot an artist sketching away on a pad.
He looks pretty talented.
Scene Five: I relax outside the coffee shop.
I wonder if you are ahead of me yet?
I have this vivid caffeine induced daydream.
If the owner of the beautiful car had reached an agreement with the charity and
the artist to split the proceeds, he could have shifted his chairs and anatomies
out of the view and charged £1 a time to let visitors photograph their spouses and
lovers [or both] actually sitting behind the wheel of the car. Then the artist could
offer instant charcoal sketches for £5 and everyone would be happy.
I once did something similar at a trade show where our stand became a major attraction
by featuring a cartoonist to draw the crowds. He did, in more ways than one.
So the moral of this column is simply to have fun and allow your imagination free
rein and you could come up with an idea for your Next Big Thing. And, if you own
a classic car designed in Detroit by Harley Earle in 1954 and it is bright red,
please give me a call.
